Discussion on National Charity Activities

The Conferences of the pro-active Ukrainian charity organizations “Charity in Ukraine: From Good to the Greatest” was held in the Rus’ Hotel on July 5, involving Konstantin Kondakov Charity Foundation.

This wonderful event was organized by reputed organizations and media: the Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum, the HALLMARKER magazine, the Socially Responsible Community NGO and others.

That day brought together people striving to make charity work as transparent and open to the public as it only possible, to create a favorable environment for the development of philanthropy in Ukraine. All this corresponds to the concept and objectives of the foundation, so it was a great pleasure for us to join this discussion. During the Conference the following guests spoke: the Advisor to the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Elena Saenko, the Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum, the Deputy Executive Director of the Renaissance International Foundation Inna Podluskaya, the director of the Ukrainian Fund of philanthropists Anna Gulevskaya-Chernysh, the Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Oleg Musiy, the director of the Cronenberg corporate foundation, the bank Citi Handlowy Kachmar Krzysztof (Poland).

The lively discussion raised such important issues of the contemporary Ukrainian society as “Place and role of charities in solving social issues”, “Readiness of political parties and the government to support charities,” “Ways of enhancing legislative reforms in the area of Charity”. Within the Conference the financial reports of the Ukrainian charities were presented, as well as the detailed analysis of the average administrative costs together with the priority areas of Ukrainian donations, and finally the TOP organizations in attracting active volunteers were named.

At the Conference the best charity organizations of Ukraine were awarded according to results of the National Rating of Philanthropists in the following categories: “The Philanthropist-company”, “Philanthropist – foundation or organization”, “Philanthropist-individual.” We are confident that now the participants of the Conference will take an initiative in following the example of the best Ukrainian philantropists and bring Ukrainian charity to the brand new level!
