Closer to Nature – at an Ostrich Farm
As part of the Road to Life for Every Child program and the Good Cause Every Day! promo event Konstantin Kondakov International Charity Foundation organized a fascinating trip for children from Yusan family type orphanage to an ostrich farm. The Yasnogorodskaya farm is the largest ostrich farm in Ukraine, which is located in a beautiful place just a half hour drive from Kiev, and occupies an area of about 18 hectares.
The children learned the farm’s history and a lot about the life of unusual birds. They were really surprised to learn that the ostrich is the world’s largest bird, it lays the largest eggs and it is the fastest two-legged animal on earth – its top speed is 80 kilometers per hour!
The children also visited the petting zoo in the ostrich farm where one can see camels, donkeys, goats, pigs, sheep, guinea pigs, ducks, hens, guinea fowls, peacocks, pheasants and other birds. The main feature of this mini-zoo is that the animals are kept in natural conditions, and anyone can “communicate” with these creatures and even feed them.
The children were delighted with their “live” contact with small animals, and we are convinced that such communication brings man and nature closer together. After all, with love in our hearts we are building a new world!
