Quilling or “Сurly” Handmademade Patterns

Art of quilling or paper curling has a long history. It is a special kind of needlework, practiced by our ancestors centuries ago. This kind of paper art develops motor skills of children, instills a sense of taste and allows kids to create wonderful handmade pictures. The Konstantin Kondakov Charity Foundation as a part of the Road to Life for Every Child program and the Good Cause Every Day! promo event organized the creative workshop for a multi-child Fisochenko family.

The kids made Quilling patterns under the watchful guidance of a master Egor in the Den’ Tvoren’ya art studio, where the workshop took place.

Firstly the kids had to decide the subject of their cards. It was not so easy, because Egor offered the children many different varieties of beautiful paper patterns. While the children were chosen, the master of the studio made aromatic tea and brought cookies.

Then the host handed to everyone special paper narrow strips of different colors and lengths, as well as the tools for tightening paper ribbons.

The children from the large Fisochenko family liked to do the little springs from tiny pieces of paper. Then it was necessary to made special shape for the thin springs, and it turned out that it was not so easy. The youngest ones – Karina and Karolina – couldn’t make the necessary elements for future flowers. But their older sisters came to help. After all, mutual assistance and support are fundamental elements of a strong family.

At the workshop every child from the multi-child Fisochenko family understood the basics of the Quilling art and spent a very useful day.

Paper is considered to be a short-life material, but works in quilling techniques may persist for years. It means that the children will have great memories of creative workshop, organized by the Konstantin Kondakov Charity Foundation for many years. For this with love in our hearts we are building a new world!
