Ukrainian Law Students Are the Best in Europe

Konstantin Kondakov Charity Foundation has made the dream of students of National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” come true. It covered all the travel expenses for the talented students to attend the ELSA Moot Court Competition on WTO Law (EMC ²). From 25 to 30 March 2013 in the city of Porto (Portugal) the Regional round of the European competition was held. 14 teams from different European countries took part in this tournament. During the qualifying round and the semifinals the “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” team showed very good results, competing with participants from Switzerland and Finland.

The Ukrainian students managed to dash round their opponents, and to become one of the four best teams in Europe. Thus, for the first time Ukrainians were awarded the opportunity to represent their region at the international level – in Geneva (Switzerland) on April 30, 2013. At this round not only Europeans, but teams from all over the world will compete.

The participation of the Ukrainian youth in the international court debates is essential to the social development of our country. Students not only get a unique opportunity of international communication, sharing professional experience, looking for useful contacts, but also a chance to make a valuable contribution to the formation of the Ukrainian universities’ positive image at the international level. This seems especially relevant in the modern Ukrainian society, which is now steadily moving towards objective assessment of intelligence.

“Being smart is not enough”, – believe the staff of the International Charity Foundation. It is a good thing that today’s young people change their attitude to knowledge and employment, strive to comprehend something new, yet unknown. However, besides of that, young people need to learn to present their skills and abilities properly. The “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” team did this task perfectly, and won the honorable fourth place in the International courts debate.

We believe that by joining our efforts (join forces – реже) we will make a valuable contribution to the development of modern Ukrainian society, and in the near future (устойчивое выражение) will create a progressive generation of young professionals, worthy of respect in the international community. After all, together with love we are building a new world!
