  • to introduce students to the Shrovetide holiday, its customs and ceremonies;
  • to get students aquainted with the yeast and yeast-free pancakes dough preparation technology;
  • to develop students' creative imagination and skills in creation of a decorative image in the "application" and "picture"techniques;
  • to foster respect for the way of life and customs of our ancestors, to preserve valuable things, which left of undeservedly forgotten.
The purpose of the project: By 17.03.2013 to hold an exciting program where children learn about the Shrovetide traditions. To let a younger generation see the customs and traditions of Shrovetide with their own eyes, to arouse an emotional approach to life. And also, to cultivate independence and accuracy of children in work and self-organization. The main focus of the project is the connection of folk art, rituals and Orthodox traditions; treating children with pancakes, dried biscuits and other dishes. Project Relevance: Shrovetide is an ancient Slavonic holiday, we inherited from the pagan culture. It includes the happy “good-bye, winter” fest, illuminated by joyful expectation of the coming spring warmth and nature renewal. Even pancakes, an indispensable attribute of Shrovetide, had a ritual significance: round, ruddy, hot, they were a symbol of the sun, which blazed up brighter, lengthening days. Pancake week was literally overflowed with festive affairs; ritual and nonritual actions, traditional games and different holiday actions. Power, energy and enthusiasm was enough for everything that one could imagine, as there was an atmosphere of utmost emancipation, universal joy and fun. Hopefully, Shrovetide and its traditions and rituals will give children only positive knowledge about the celebration and energy flow for a long time. Target Audience Children from orphanages aged from 8 to 15 years.
