Broad Discussion for the Necessary Changes

Public discussion «Donors, volunteers, state: interaction or substitution of roles?» was held to discuss the new Law on Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine regarding certain issues of taxation of charitable aid was recently held at the press-center “UkrInform.” Active participation in the discussion took representatives of the Good Deeds International Charity Foundation.

The feature of the event was that in addition to representatives of the charitable sector, voluntary movement, representatives of government also attended discussion. It allowed not only to outline current issues, debate over their solution, but also to offer real relief mechanisms of volunteers and benefactors in assisting need.

Also, representatives of the charitable sector reminded that not only affected on the east and the army needs support, but other social issues that also need address help have not gone away. Moreover, the presence of taxes and prohibition of the National Bank for currency transactions, further complicated the work of philanthropists in that direction. Open dialogue and a joint search for adequate mechanisms to facilitate volunteer activities and charitable initiatives, allowed to work out a series of proposals for legislative changes and regulations that will hopefully soon be implemented.
